Sometimes you may need to put your subscription on hold without canceling it completely. Good news – our pause feature can help you with this!

SlideShare users can manage their subscription by visiting the Scribd Membership tab on their Account Settings page, or by visiting their account page on Scribd.

What happens when my subscription is paused?

Pausing your subscription will freeze your billing cycle and access to paid content for a specific period of time. If you pause in the middle of your billing cycle, you’ll still be able to enjoy the time you’ve previously paid for after your pause ends. For example, if you pause 5 days before your next billing date, you’ll have 5 days when your subscription resumes before you are billed for the next month’s payment.

How to pause your subscription

You can pause your subscription by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to your account on the Everand or Scribd website
  2. Click on your profile icon on the top right-hand corner of the page
  3. Select “Your account” from the options listed
  4. Scroll down to the “Subscription” section
  5. Click the “Pause” link located to the right of “Pause subscription”
  6. Select the duration of time you’d like to pause your subscription for from the drop-down menu
  7. Click the “Pause subscription” button

An email will be sent to the email address on file for your account confirming you’ve successfully paused your subscription. This email will also contain the date that your subscription will resume after the pause expires.

Please note, this pause feature is not designed for long-term use. If you need to pause your subscription for longer than the durations provided, you may want to consider canceling your subscription.

How to unpause your subscription

You can unpause your subscription at any time to resume your access to our library, even if it’s before the pause duration has expired:

  1. Sign in to your account on the Everand or Scribd website
  2. Click on your profile icon on the top right-hand corner of the page
  3. Select “Your account” from the options listed
  4. Scroll down to the “Subscription” section
  5. Click the “Resume subscription” button

I don’t see the option to pause my subscription

Pausing may not be available, depending on the type of subscription you have or the payment method you use. In general, if you don’t see the “Pause” link in the Subscription section of your account page, then you will not be able to pause your subscription with Scribd.

Pausing your subscription to change your billing date

If you need to change your billing date, you can pause your subscription to accomplish this!

Simply pause your subscription, and the pause duration selected will equal the amount of days your billing date is pushed forward in time. For example, if you pause your subscription with Scribd for 1 week, your billing date will be pushed back by 1 week when the pause expires and your subscription resumes.

If you need to adjust your billing date by a specific amount of time that isn’t provided as an option in the pause duration drop-down menu:

  1. Pause your subscription for the duration applicable
  2. Manually resume your subscription after the number of days you want to move your billing date by has elapsed

Just remember that during the time your subscription is paused, you will not have access to paid subscription content in our library. If you’re pausing your subscription in the middle of a billing cycle, you’ll need to include the days you’ve paid for in addition to the days you keep your subscription paused to secure your preferred billing date.
