An unlock gives you full access to one audiobook or ebook from the Everand catalog. Once you unlock a book, you can read or listen to it as many times as you'd like for as long as your subscription is active.
How many unlocks do I get?
That depends on your plan:
- Standard — 1 unlock per month
- Plus — 3 unlocks per month
- Deluxe — 5 unlocks per month
Your unlocks refresh on your billing date each month. You can check how many you have available in your account settings.
Using an unlock
When you find a book that requires an unlock, you'll see two options on its book page:
- Preview. Tap "Play sample" or "Read preview" to try a portion before committing.
- Unlock. Tap the Unlock button and confirm your selection. That's it — the book is yours to read for as long as you’re subscribed.
What about books that don't require an unlock?
A curated selection of audiobooks, ebooks, podcasts, and Everand Originals is available anytime without using an unlock. In the app, these are labeled "unlimited." You can browse them freely and they don't count toward your monthly allocation.
Good to know
- Each unlock is valid for 6 months from the date it was issued. After 6 months, any unredeemed unlock(s) will expire.
- If you cancel and later resubscribe with the same email, your previously unlocked books will be accessible again without using new unlocks.
- If you unlock a book by accident, start a conversation with our virtual assistant. We'll do our best to help.
On a Legacy plan? Unlocks don't apply to you. Your access works differently. See "I'm on a Legacy Everand plan" for details.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can't figure out why a book is locked?
A: Most books on Everand require an unlock to access. If you've used all your unlocks for the month, you can still browse and enjoy books that don't require an unlock (look for the "unlimited" label in the app), or wait for your unlocks to refresh on your billing date.
Q: I unlocked a book but can't access it anymore. What happened?
A: Unlocked books stay accessible as long as your subscription is active. If something's showing as locked, try signing out and back in, and make sure your subscription hasn't lapsed. Still not working? Our virtual assistant can help.
Q: Do unused unlocks roll over to next month?
A: Any unlocks you don’t use will remain available in your account for up to 6 months from the date they were issued.
Q: If I cancel and come back later, do I keep my unlocked books?
A: Yes. If you resubscribe with the same email, the books you previously unlocked will be accessible again.
