Updating your password, username, or email address

If you’ve forgotten the password or email address you use for Scribd and need to recover it, please check this guide first for assistance.

Changing your password

To change your password:

1. Sign in to your account on the Scribd website
2. Click on your user icon in the upper-right hand corner of the screen
3. Select “Your account” from the drop-down menu
4. Click on “Update” next to “Password” in the “Account information” section
5. Verify your identity through our two-factor authentication process
6. Enter your current password, new password, and new password confirmation in the fields provided
7. Click on the “Save” button

Changing your username or email address

To change your username or email address:

1. Sign in to your account on the Scribd website
2. Click on your user icon in the upper-right hand corner of the screen
3. Select “Your account” from the drop-down menu
4. Click on “Edit” in the “Account Information” section
5. Verify your identity through our two-factor authentication process
6. Enter your updated email address and/or username in the fields provided
7. Click on the “Save” button

If the username or email address you choose is already in our system, you'll get an error message stating why your changes could not be saved. If this occurs after attempting to update your username, you’ll need to pick a different one. You can also contact our Scribd Support team if you find you have a pre-existing account registered under your preferred email address, and we can help merge them together.
