To add to SlideShare’s collection of content, you’ll need to ensure your work is made in (or exported as) an accepted file format and size. No need to worry if you’re unsure of what these specifications are – we’ve provided a breakdown of each below for your reference!

File format

The following file types are supported for uploads to SlideShare:

  • PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx, .ppsx, .potx)
  • PDF (.pdf)
  • Word (.doc, .docx)

In general, most editing software will allow you to export your content as a specific file type. If you need to change the file type of your work to one SlideShare can support, instructions for exporting to a different file type can likely be found through your specific software’s user manual.

File size

The size of an upload can affect how easily it can be added to SlideShare, and even the type of content it’s classified as! When uploading your work, keep the following in mind:

  • Your file’s total size cannot exceed 300 MB– attempts to upload files larger than this will likely result in an upload failure
  • PowerPoint file types are classified as a Presentation when uploaded and limited to a maximum of 300 slides
  • A PDF or Word file uploaded containing more than one page is automatically classified as a Document
  • If you upload content that contains a single page with a page height that is more than twice its width, the upload will be classified as an Infographic

After you’ve confirmed your content is a file type we support, and within the file size limit, we recommend reading through the SlideShare Uploader Agreement and our article on content supported within uploads before contributing them to SlideShare.

If you have any additional questions about the above topics, please let our SlideShare Support team know. We’re always ready to assist!
