When it comes to grabbing the SlideShare community’s attention with your uploads, you’ve got options! Lean into your creativity (along with our design principle tips), and you’re sure to develop content that will delight your viewers. That being said, you’ll also want to keep in mind what content is supported within uploads to be sure everything appears as it should.

This article provides information on the content that can exist within a SlideShare upload. If you’re looking for information on what can be uploaded, please see our article on uploading content to Slideshare.

Supported Content

Images

While image files cannot be uploaded directly to SlideShare, they can absolutely be placed inside of a presentation or document that you plan to upload!

Hyperlinks

SlideShare allows hyperlinks in uploads, as long as the upload is a supported file format. Links should generally be used as an added resource within your upload. With this in mind, we've disabled links on the first three slides or pages of all SlideShare uploads. We believe this leads to a better experience for our community, as viewers aren’t immediately sent to a different information source when checking out your work!

To ensure hyperlinks within your uploads work correctly, here are some helpful tips:

  • Check that the PDF creation tool you use preserves hyperlinks. Most PDF tools preserve links, however, some do not.
  • Internal links aren't supported. For example, if slide five of your presentation links to slide eight in the same presentation, the link won't work.
  • Hyperlinks may not work if they’re on the left or right side of your upload. The left and right sides of SlideShare uploads are reserved for navigating the uploaded file. If you have links to share, we recommend placing them near the center of your slides or pages.

Unsupported Content

YouTube videos

At this time, it is not possible to embed YouTube videos within an upload. Any pre-existing embedded videos have been updated to instead display a link that redirects viewers to visit the video content directly on YouTube.

If you have any additional questions about the content supported in uploads, please let SlideShare Support know – our team is always happy to help!
