Why do I have an account with Scribd?

Accounts with Scribd are generally created through the following registration options:

  • Apple
  • Facebook
  • Google
  • Email
  • SlideShare

Our Help Center article, “Signing up” provides additional information on how an account with Scribd is created. While there are many reasons why someone might register for an account with Scribd, these are the most common:

To access content on Scribd

In order to download or view content on Scribd, an account with Scribd is required. If a book, audiobook, or document in our library caught your eye, you likely created an account with Scribd to view it! If you need a reminder of the content you previously accessed on Scribd, we recommend taking a look at your reading history.

To access content on SlideShare

SlideShare is now a part of Scribd! When you sign up for an account on SlideShare to view presentations, you will also create a Scribd account. This ensures you’re able to enjoy both libraries of content seamlessly using one linked account.

I don’t want a Scribd account – what should I do?

You can delete your Scribd account at any time. For step-by-step instructions on how to delete your account, please see our article, “Deleting your Scribd account”.

Deleting your Scribd account will remove the ability to sign in to any connected SlideShare account. If you want to maintain access to SlideShare, do not delete the Scribd account associated with it.

If you’re unable to delete your Scribd account for any reason, let our support team know and we can take a look!
