Staring at a screen can become a bit strenuous, especially at night. Enabling dark mode can help alleviate the strain of reading in the dark.
At this time, there is no dark mode setting available directly within the Everand app. However, you can still access this feature within your device’s internal settings. The setting you have selected on your device will apply automatically to the Everand app.
While you have dark mode enabled on your device, you may experience inverted image colors on unsupported book formats such as graphic novels or PDF documents.
Follow the instructions below to enable dark mode on your iOS or Android device.
Dark mode for iOS devices
To turn on the dark mode setting for your device, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Display & Brightness
- Select Dark to turn on dark mode
You can also access dark mode from the Control Center.
- Open Control Center
- Tap the dark mode button to turn it on or off

Dark mode for Android
To turn on the dark theme setting for your device, follow these steps:
Android OS 10+
- Go into your device’s Settings
- Tap Display
- Tap on the toggle switch next to Dark Theme to enable
Android OS 9.0
- Go into your device’s Settings
- Tap Display
- Tap Advanced to expand the list of options
- Scroll down and tap Device Theme
- Tap Dark when the option appears

Please keep in mind that when you enable dark mode within your device, it will apply to other apps you have installed. If this is something you would rather avoid, we’ve implemented Themes within our ebook reader to help!
Themes
In addition to dark mode, you can customize your reading experience with themes located directly in the Everand app. Themes are pre-set combinations of page and text colors that can be applied to our ebooks. When you have theme options applied, menus and PDF documents will not be impacted.
To access themes while you’re reading in the Everand mobile app, follow these steps:
- Tap the “T” icon to the upper right
- This will allow you to open your reader’s “Display Menu”
- Toward the bottom of the “Display Menu”, above “Brightness”, you should see the option for “Theme”
There will be several color scheme options for the overall color scheme of your reader’s pages, ranging from bright white to pitch black.
