Upload benefits

With every upload to Scribd, you help build the library of information our readers can enjoy. But, did you know that your document uploads can benefit you as well? We’ve provided answers to the most common questions on this below!

How do I benefit from uploading documents?

Most documents on Scribd are available to download for free, but there are some document uploads that require a subscription in order to download them. If you don’t have a subscription, you may still be able to download a document from our library of user uploads in exchange for uploading your own original document(s) to Scribd.

Can I be paid for uploading documents?

We do not offer monetary payment for documents uploaded to Scribd. We recommend reading our article, “My Books on Everand” for more details on how you can share your work with Everand for payment.

I’m not able to download a document after making uploads. What should I do?

Make sure the content you’re trying to download is a document that can be downloaded

If you’ve uploaded documents to Scribd, you’ll be able to download a document from our library in return. However, you will not be able to directly download other subscription content such as books, audiobooks, sheet music, etc., in exchange for document uploads.

It’s also possible that the document you’re trying to download was not made available for downloading by its uploader. You’ll see a “Download” button on any document that can be downloaded. If the “Download” button is missing, the document cannot be downloaded.

Take some troubleshooting steps

Signing out of your Scribd account, logging back in, and re-attempting your download may be all that’s needed to fix download difficulties! Sometimes download issues can also be fixed by clearing your cache, cookies, and browsing history. We also recommend trying a different web browser altogether while downloading.

Do not use a download manager

We do not support the use of download managers to download content from our library. If you’re trying to use a download manager to download a document in exchange for uploading one, this is likely preventing your download.

Try downloading the document later

The ability to download can be interrupted by automated systems in place for the protection of Scribd’s library. You’ll see a message indicating your access to a download has been restricted if this occurs. While we aren’t able to lift actions taken by these systems, you should be able to try downloading a document again after 24 hours.

Still having trouble?

If you continue to experience issues with downloading a document, we can take a closer look! Just contact our support team and include all of the following details:

  • A link to the document on Scribd that you're unable to download
  • A description or screenshot of what you see when you try to download the document
  • Any troubleshooting steps you’ve taken
