By entering, you agree to these Official Rules and to the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes.
1. Sponsor
This Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by Scribd, Inc., located at 460 Bryant Street #300, San Francisco, CA 94107-2594 USA, (“Sponsor”).
2. Eligibility
The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States of America and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry.
The following are not eligible to enter or win: (a) employees, contractors, officers, and directors of Sponsor and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, and their respective spouses) and members of their same household; (b) any individual who serves as a moderator of the r/teaching subreddit at any time during the Sweepstakes Period; and (c) employees of Reddit, Inc. and its affiliates.
Entries submitted by ineligible individuals, including entries submitted through an alternate or secondary Reddit account, will be disqualified.
3. Sweepstakes Period
The Sweepstakes begins on September 15, 2026 at 12:00 AM Pacific Time and ends on September 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time (the “Sweepstakes Period”). The Sponsor’s local Pacific Time computer is the official time-keeping device for the Sweepstakes.
4. How to Enter
To enter, leave a comment in response to the prompt on the specified Reddit post during the Sweepstakes Period. Limit one (1) entry per person and per Reddit account. Entries submitted from multiple or duplicate Reddit accounts controlled by the same individual will all be disqualified. Automated, scripted, or bulk entries will be disqualified.
Entry is free. No purchase, subscription, upvote, downvote, Reddit award, or subscription to any community is required to enter or win, and none will increase your chances of winning.
5. Winner Selection
On or about September 22, 2026, the Sponsor will randomly select 3 winners from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Sponsor will conduct the drawing by applying a random selection method to a numbered list of all eligible entries and will retain a record of the selection.
6. Prizes
Each of the three (3) winners will receive: (a) one (1) one-year subscription to Scribd, delivered as a promotional code that must be redeemed by December 31, 2026; and (b) one (1) $300.00 Amazon.com Gift Card.
Approximate Retail Value (ARV) per winner: $400.00. Total ARV of all prizes: $1,200.00.
Prizes are non-transferable and no substitution or cash equivalent is allowed, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. The subscription prize will not automatically renew and confers no rights beyond the one-year term. Unredeemed promotional codes expire and will not be replaced. If a winner already holds an active paid Scribd subscription, Sponsor may in its discretion apply the prize as account credit of equivalent value.
Amazon is not a sponsor of this Sweepstakes. Amazon.com Gift Cards are subject to the terms and conditions available at amazon.com/gc-legal.
7. Winner Notification
Potential winners will be notified via Reddit direct message within five (5) business days after the drawing, sent only from the Sponsor account (u/Scribd_Official). Sponsor will never request payment, account passwords, or payment card information. Any message purporting to be from Sponsor that does so is not from Sponsor.
To claim a prize, a potential winner must complete prize fulfillment through a Sponsor-hosted form and may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, and (where lawful) Publicity Release within seven (7) days of notification. If a potential winner does not respond within five (5) business days of notification, is found ineligible, or fails to return required documents on time, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected at random from the remaining eligible entries.
8. Taxes
All federal, state, and local taxes and any other costs associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein are the sole responsibility of the winner. Prizes may constitute reportable income. Sponsor may require a winner to complete and return an IRS Form W-9 before a prize is delivered.
9. General Conditions
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Sweepstakes if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If the Sweepstakes is cancelled or terminated before the scheduled end of the Sweepstakes Period, Sponsor will select winners at random from all eligible entries received prior to the event giving rise to the cancellation or termination. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or acts in violation of these Official Rules, Reddit’s policies, or the rules of the community hosting the Sweepstakes post.
10. Release and Limitations of Liability
By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its parent, affiliates, and subsidiaries, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents, together with Reddit, Inc. and Amazon.com, Inc. and their respective affiliates, from any liability, injury, loss, or damage of any kind resulting from participation in the Sweepstakes or the acceptance, possession, or use of any prize.
This Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Reddit, Inc. or Amazon.com, Inc. Entrants agree to comply with Reddit’s User Agreement and Content Policy, and any entry that violates either may be disqualified.
11. Privacy
Personal data submitted in connection with this Sweepstakes is subject to Sponsor’s privacy policy, available at scribd.com/privacy. Sponsor collects entrants’ Reddit usernames and, from potential winners, name, mailing address, email address, and where required a taxpayer identification number, solely to administer the Sweepstakes, verify eligibility, deliver prizes, and meet tax reporting obligations. Sponsor will not use this information for marketing purposes without separate consent, and will retain it only as long as necessary for those purposes and applicable recordkeeping requirements.
12. Governing Law
This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Sweepstakes shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and entrants consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
13. Winner List
To request the Reddit usernames of the winners, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Scribd Sweepstakes – Winner Request, Scribd, Inc., 460 Bryant Street #300, San Francisco, CA 94107-2594 USA, postmarked by October 14, 2026.
14. Entry Requirements and Content Standards
Each entry must be the entrant’s own original comment and must comply with the rules of the community hosting the Sweepstakes post. Sponsor may disqualify, without notice, any entry that in Sponsor’s sole discretion is off-topic, unlawful, defamatory, harassing, obscene, infringing, contains the personal information of a third party, or violates Reddit’s policies or the community’s rules.
By entering, each entrant grants Sponsor a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, display, and quote the entrant’s comment, in whole or in part, in connection with this Sweepstakes and Sponsor’s related marketing, attributed to the entrant’s Reddit username. Entrants may request removal of their comment from Sponsor-controlled materials by contacting Sponsor.
15. Publicity
Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to publish the winner’s Reddit username in connection with announcing the results of this Sweepstakes, including in the Sweepstakes post, without additional compensation. Sponsor will not publish a winner’s legal name or likeness without separate written consent. Where a publicity release may not lawfully be required as a condition of winning, this section does not apply.
16. Platform Availability
Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, deleted, removed by community moderators or platform automation, or otherwise not received or not accessible, or for any interruption, outage, or malfunction of Reddit or any other third-party platform. If the Sweepstakes post is removed or becomes unavailable during the Sweepstakes Period, Sponsor may terminate or modify the Sweepstakes in accordance with Section 9.
17. Miscellaneous
If any provision of these Official Rules is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be modified or severed to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision. These Official Rules constitute the entire agreement between entrants and Sponsor with respect to this Sweepstakes.
