If your audiobook isn't playing properly, these steps should help.
No sound or audio won't start
- Check your device volume and mute switch. It happens to the best of us.
- Check your audio output. If you're connected to Bluetooth headphones or a speaker, make sure they're powered on and connected. Try disconnecting Bluetooth to test with your device's built-in speaker.
- Close and reopen the app. Sometimes the audio player needs a fresh start.
Audio is skipping or cutting out
- Check your connection. If you're streaming, an unstable connection can cause skipping. Download the book for offline listening to avoid this.
- Update the app. Playback bugs are often fixed in the latest app version.
Audio is playing at the wrong speed
Open the audiobook player and look for the speed control (often displayed as "1x"). Tap it to cycle through speed options or reset to 1x.
The player is stuck on a sample or chapter
This was a known issue fixed in app version 15.24.2. If you're experiencing it, update your app to the latest version, then sign out and back in.
CarPlay or Android Auto issues
- CarPlay: Make sure you're signed in to Everand on your iPhone. The CarPlay app pulls from your saved list, so books need to be saved before you start driving. If playback cuts out, download the book ahead of time — streaming over a spotty connection is the most common cause.
- Android Auto: A bug with playback controls was fixed in app version 16.1.0. Update to the latest version.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I listen to audiobooks through Bluetooth?
A: Yes. Everand works with Bluetooth headphones, speakers, and car systems. If audio isn't coming through, check that the Bluetooth connection is active and that Everand is selected as the audio source.
Q: The sleep timer isn't working. How do I fix it?
A: Open the audiobook player and look for the moon (☾) icon. Tap it to set or adjust the timer. If it's still not responding, close and reopen the app.
