Recent changes to billing regulations are affecting Scribd, Inc. customers in India. For answers to some frequently asked questions, read on.

Why did my subscription payment fail?

As of October 1, 2021, banks across India began complying with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new rules and systems that impact recurring transactions, including subscriptions and bill payments. As a result, many India card issuers are not processing some recurring foreign transactions.

How can I renew my subscription?

For customers residing in India, credit cards that were issued in countries outside of India may remain able to process renewals. If you have one, we recommend using it.

Additionally, you can try to renew your subscription using Google Pay. While we cannot guarantee that will work, we have seen the highest level of success with these payment options.

Our article on updating your payment details provides step-by-step instructions for all payment methods.

When do you expect to have updated payment options available?

We are working hard to develop a new system to support payments for customers in India, however we are unable to provide an anticipated launch date. Scribd, Inc. is committed to our subscribers across India, and we will share further information as soon as we can.

If you have additional questions, please contact our support team for assistance.
