Slideshare presentation uploads are unavailable right now. Viewing private slide decks is affected too. Presentations you've already uploaded are unaffected, and you can still view and share them.
The steps on this page will work once uploads are back. For the latest, check Site Status and Known Issues on Scribd and Slideshare.
What can be uploaded to Slideshare?
First, review the file formats supported on Slideshare and the Prohibited Activity and Content Policy.
You can upload:
- Presentations
- Documents
- Infographics
You can't upload:
- Videos
- Image files such as JPEG or GIF
Custom fonts, images, or layouts are usually preserved when your presentation is uploaded to Slideshare as a PDF.
Speaker notes show at the bottom of a presentation's view page, under Editor's Notes. Slideshare only detects them in raw file formats, so upload your file as a PPT or PPTX. Notes in a PDF won't show up.

Troubleshooting Slideshare uploads
Slideshare presentation uploads are unavailable right now. If your upload is failing, that's why, and the steps below won't fix it. Check Site Status for the latest.
Once uploads are back, here's what to check.
Upload processing time
The time it takes to upload a Slideshare file depends on the following factors:
- The file’s size
- Your internet connection
- The status of our servers
If an upload takes more than five minutes, something probably went wrong. Try it once more. If it still fails, check Site Status. If nothing is listed there, contact our support team.
Conversion failure
When a file displays Work in Progress, we're attempting to convert the file. Uploads fail during conversion for a few reasons:
- Slideshare is having a temporary issue. Check Site Status first. If an outage is listed, retrying won't help.
- The file is password-protected, encrypted, or has macros. Remove these, then upload again.
- The file is a raw format such as PPT or PPTX. Save it as a PDF and upload again. PDFs are simpler and convert faster.
