Have you created a presentation you’re proud of and want to get the word out about it? You should upload it to SlideShare! When you share your work with our community, you’re contributing to the learning of millions of others across the globe.

What can be uploaded to SlideShare?

We recommend reviewing the file formats supported on SlideShare and our article on Prohibited Activity and Content before uploading your content.

You can upload:

  • Presentations
  • Documents
  • Infographics

You cannot upload:

  • Videos
  • Image files such as JPEG or GIF

In most cases, any custom fonts, images, or layouts within your presentation will be preserved when it’s uploaded to SlideShare as a PDF.

Speaker notes will also appear at the bottom of a presentation’s view page in the “Editor’s Notes” section. However, our system is only able to detect and display speaker notes for files uploaded in a PDF format. If you’d like speaker notes included, be sure to upload your file to SlideShare in a raw format such as PPT or PPTX.

Troubleshooting SlideShare uploads

Generally, uploading content to SlideShare is easy! However, if you experience any difficulty with this process, we’ve detailed some considerations and troubleshooting steps below.

Upload processing time

The time it takes to upload a SlideShare file depends on the following factors:

  • The file’s size
  • Your internet connection
  • The status of our servers

If an upload takes more than five minutes, it’s possible there was an issue uploading your file. If you’ve retried uploading your file and still have trouble, please contact our SlideShare Support team for help!

Conversion failure

When a file is displayed as a “Work in Progress”, we're attempting to convert the file. There are a few reasons why uploads can fail during conversion:

  • SlideShare is experiencing a temporary issue – We recommend retrying your upload(s) later and checking our Site Status for any recent updates
  • The file you’re attempting to convert is password protected, encrypted, or contains macros – If any of these apply to your file(s), please remove them and retry your upload(s)
  • You’re uploading a raw file such as PPT or PPTX – Try saving your file as a PDF and retrying your upload; PDFs are less complex and tend to convert quickly
