As a member of the SlideShare community, your profile is the best way to introduce yourself to your viewers and get them familiar with your work!

How much of my SlideShare profile is public?

SlideShare profiles are public and display all of the following:

  • Personal and contact details
  • Content on SlideShare you’ve liked
  • Content you’ve uploaded
  • Your followers
  • Who you’re following
  • Your Clipboard

If you created your SlideShare account using an existing account elsewhere (e.g. LinkedIn), your publicly visible profile information on the existing account will be combined and shown on your SlideShare account. This is done to help you easily manage your identity across both platforms!

The information on your profile will also be associated with any public content you upload on SlideShare. However, uploads you make to SlideShare will not be automatically shared across platforms you’ve connected to your Slideshare account.

Viewing your SlideShare profile

To view how your SlideShare profile appears to others:

  1. Sign in to your account on the SlideShare website
  2. Click on your user icon in the upper right corner of the page
  3. Select your username located at the top of the drop-down menu that appears
  4. You’ll be redirected to view your profile page

Editing your SlideShare profile

You can include as little or as much about yourself as you want on your SlideShare profile! The information shown on your profile can be edited in two separate tabs within your Account Settings. Before we go through the instructions on editing your profile, let’s review the details that exist in each tab!

The “Personal details” tab

You can edit and include the following personal information on your profile using this tab:

  • Profile Picture – The image viewers see associated with your profile or uploads
  • Account Type – Clarifies who is represented by the account (e.g. Company)
  • Name – Your first and last name or the name of the account owner
  • Occupation – Your profession
  • Organization/Workplace – Your employer
  • About – A space for you to describe yourself or your account in your own words
  • Website – A link to your personal website, company’s website, etc.
  • Industry – The category of business your profession relates to

The “Contact details” tab

You can edit and include the following contact information on your profile using this tab:

  • My Twitter Handle 
  • My Facebook Profile
  • My LinkedIn Profile
  • City
  • Region/Province
  • Country

To edit your profile:

  1. Sign in to your account on the SlideShare website
  2. Click on your user icon in the upper right corner of the page
  3. Select “Account Settings” from the drop-down menu that appears
  4. Choose the tab containing the information you’d like to edit (“Personal details” or “Contact details”)
  5. Make your edits
  6. Click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to preserve your changes
