Many documents on Scribd are available for download, allowing offline access or the ability to print a hard copy.
How to download documents
- If a document is available for download, a “Download” button will appear above the document viewer.
- Click the button to begin the download.
- Depending on your browser settings, the file may automatically save to your Downloads folder or prompt you to choose a destination.
What documents can be downloaded?
Document contributors control how their work is accessed. If a document is not available for download, the “Download” option will not appear. You can still read these documents on Scribd, but they cannot be saved to your computer or printed.
Most downloadable documents require an active subscription. During a trial period, limits may apply to the number of documents you can download.
Accessing downloaded documents
To open a downloaded document, ensure you have compatible software installed. Common file formats include:
- PDF (.pdf) – Requires a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Word Documents (.doc, .docx) – Requires Microsoft Word or an alternative word processor.
If you can’t locate a downloaded file, use your computer’s search tools:
- macOS: Open Finder and use the search bar.
- Windows: Open File Explorer and search for the file name or extension.
