How do I create and manage a collection from the Scribd app?

Scribd's editorial team combs through our library to create hand-curated collections which you can find while browsing on the site. But who's better at hand-picking books for you than you? Start creating collections today! You can look through Scribd's library and create collections of books based on a certain theme or a specific purpose - all tailored to your personal tastes! You can even share these collections with everyone on Scribd by making them publicly available or set them as private to be enjoyed by only you.

Creating a Collection

If you don't have a collection yet, create one! There are a few ways to go about it depending on where you are on the site but it's always an easy process. If you've saved a bunch of books in your Library and you want to organize them into collections, you can do so directly from there. Select 'Library' at the bottom of the navigation bar on the app. Once there you'll see any collection that you may have already created under the 'Collections' tab.

When you select 'Collections', you'll then find an easy option to 'Start a new collection'. When you tap the 'Create a new Collection' option, a new page will appear. Just fill out the name and description, tap 'create'—and just like that—you have a collection! Optional: if you want a collection to be for your eyes only, check the box next to 'Private'. Any collection that you've made private will appear on your list of collections with the a lock symbol next to it.

The other option for creating a collection is directly from a book itself. When you select a book's cover, it'll expand to show the synopsis and reviews. Select either the 'Add to Library' or 'In Library' button and a pop-up menu will appear. Simply select 'Add to Collection' and if you'd like to create a new one, select the option at the top of the list.

Adding a title to a Collection

There are many ways to go about getting your books organized properly. As mentioned above, you can add a title to your collections from the book's cover by tapping on either 'Add to Library' or 'In Library', located underneath the book's cover. Next, select 'Add to Collection'. To add it to an existing collection, simply select the one you wish it added to from the list provided. The box will then turn into a checkmark to show it's saved.

Another option is to add a title into a collection from your Library. You get to your Library by simply selecting 'Library' from the navigation bar at the bottom of the app.

Once you're in your Library, tap the edit icon in the upper righthand corner and highlight the books you wish to add to a collection. For iOS and our other app (Android, Kindle Fire, etc.), the options will be different. If you're on iOS, once you select the covers, tap 'add to...' at the bottom of the page and you'll see your collections. Once there, highlight the collections you want to add the book to and tap 'Done'. For our non-iOS readers, just tap on the icon in the upper righthand corner (three vertical dots) and select 'Add to Collection'.

The 'Add to Collections' menu will appear and you can either add them to an existing collection or create a brand new one.

Editing a Collection

If you ever need to change the title, description, or privacy settings of a collection, you can do that easily from the app. First access the 'Collections' tab under your 'Library'. From there, tap on the collection you wish to edit and you'll see a 'Collection Settings' button underneath its name. Selecting that will give you the option to edit it as well as delete it entirely.

If you have any trouble with any of the above, please contact Scribd support and describe the issue so that our Support team can be of assistance.
