Not every second can be spent reading a book but that doesn't mean that you should be without a good one. Now you can search the web, answer an email, or simply give your eyes a rest while you relax and listen to an audiobook on Scribd!
There are two ways to find audiobooks on Scribd. When you select the 'Audiobook' option in the left-hand side menu on Scribd.com, you'll see there's a few options for browsing our audiobook content library: an Overview of recommendations and curated lists, Categories where you can narrow your browsing down by specific genres and interests, and of course the Editors' Picks' curated lists. The best way to find a great new audiobook to listen to will be looking through the 'Audiobook' content library on Scribd if you're not quite sure exactly what you'd like to listen to.
You're welcome to search for a specific audiobook as well! If we have it, you'll be able to find it based on the title or the author. Enter in your search phrase in the area provided, and when you scroll through the results, you'll first find all of our content libraries matching your search. Select the tab 'Audiobooks' to see all the titles matching your results in the audio format. We have a guide on how to search and browse the Scribd library here if you need some tips and tricks on exploring the vast amount of titles we have available!
When you find an audiobook you're interested in, click on the book cover to be taken to the book's "About" page. You'll find the length of the audiobook directly underneath the author's name as well as who it was narrated by. Beneath the book cover, you'll see the option to Start Listening or you can save it for later by selecting Save for Later.
To start playing the book, select Start Listening and our audiobook player will open!
You'll see the options to skip forward a chapter, move back a chapter and pause the book at anytime on the audio page. There's also a 'jump' option to fast forward or rewind at a 30-second intervals.
Sometimes you'll need to skip ahead or backtrack in a book and simply using the 'skip chapter' options are going to cause it to be a longer process than you would want. Luckily you can choose a chapter to jump straight to it. Bring up the Table of Contents by clicking the icon in the upper left-hand corner and you'll find the list of Chapters to jump straight to one.
You can set it up so that the book stops itself by selecting the symbol that looks like a moon found on the lower left-hand side of the audio page. When you select that, the Sleep Timer menu will appear and from there select the length of time you wish for the book to play. Once the timer counts down to zero, the playback will automatically turn off. If you like to read before bed, you can fall asleep to the words being read to you and know that it won't be running all night long.
If you run into any issues with an audiobook on the site, please be sure to contact Scribd support -- include the name of book that you are having issues with and describe the trouble in detail. They'll get to work on seeing about a fix for the problem so you can enjoy the audiobook again as quickly as possible.
