My Collections

Scribd's editorial team combs through our library to create hand-curated collections which you can find while browsing on the site. But who's better at hand-picking books for you than you? Start creating collections today! You can look through Scribd's library and create collections of books based on a certain theme or a specific purpose - all tailored to your personal tastes! You can even share these collections with everyone on Scribd by making them publicly available or set them as private to be enjoyed by only you.

Creating a Collection

If you don't have a collection yet, create one! There are a few ways to go about it depending on where you are on the site but it's always an easy process. If you've saved a bunch of books in your Library and you want to organize them into collections, you can do so directly from the 'My Library' page. To get there, select 'My Library' at the top of the navigation bar on the righthand side of the page. Once there you'll find the option to create a collection as well as see any collection that you may have already created.

When you click the 'Create a new Collection' option, a pop-up box will appear. Just start typing out the title in the area that says 'Name your collection' and then you'll see the other options to write a small description as well as decide if you wish it to be publicly available or for your eyes only. Hit 'Start Collection' when you're done—and voila—you have a collection! Any collection that you've made private will appear on your list of collections with the word 'Private' next to it.

The other option for creating a collection is directly for a book itself. While reading the book, if you've decided that it would be a great start to a new collection, just click on the plus sign in the upper righthand corner of the page. Once it's a checkmark, click it again and select 'Add to collection' and you'll be able to create a new one from there.

Adding a title to a Collection

Which brings us to adding titles to your collections. There's lot of ways to go about getting the books organized properly. As mentioned above, to add a title to your collections, that you are currently reading, you have to do so by selecting the 'plus' sign at the top of the page and then select it again to bring up the option to 'Add to Collection'. Click the icon next to the correct collection and hit 'Save'. The box will then turn into a checkmark to show it's saved.

Another option is to add a titles into a collection from My Library. You get to your Library by simply selecting 'My Library' or hovering your mouse over the profile icon and selecting 'My Library' from the drop-down navigation menu.

Once you're in your Library, you'll need to select the proper tab where the book or books you wish added to one of your collections by pressing the 'Manage' button, selecting the books you wish added, and then hitting 'Add to Collection'.

Again, the 'Add to Collections' pop-up menu will appear and you can either add them to an existing collection or create a brand new one.

If you want to just add a single book to a collection, you can do so from the book cover itself. If it's not already saved in your Library, click the '+' sign that appear in the upper righthand corner of the cover to add it to your library, and then proceed to click the checkmark that's taken the '+' signs place and add it to a collection from the option menu that appears there. Select the collection or create a new one, save the changes when you've made your selection, and your collection will be updated with the new addition.

Editing a Collection

If you ever need to change the title, description, or privacy settings of a collection, you can do that easily by selecting the collection at the top of the 'My Library' page then hitting the 'Setting' option on the collections page. You can also remove books from your collection from that page as well by selecting the 'Manage' button next to 'Settings', clicking on all the books you wish removed, hitting 'Remove' and confirming your wish for their removal.

If you have any trouble with any of the above, please contact Scribd support and describe the issue so that our Support team can be of assistance.
