What qualifies for a refund

A charge from the last 30 days can be refunded when:

  • Inactive account. There was no activity on your account during that billing period.
  • Fraud. Someone else got into your account and used it.
  • Payment error. We billed you when we shouldn't have.
  • Defective experience. Unexpected experience drastically different from what's shown in the free preview.
  • Technical issues. A technical problem on our side stopped you from using your subscription. (We'll always try to fix it first, then refund if we can't.)

If a discount or promotion applied, the refund only covers what you were charged.

You must contact us within 30 days of a charge. We do not refund charges 30+ days old.

What doesn't qualify for a refund

  • Any billing periods you actively used the subscription in.
  • Partial or prorated refunds. If you used your subscription for part of a billing cycle and then canceled, you won't receive a refund for that charge.
  • Any charge from 30+ days ago. We do not offer refunds for charges older than 30 days, regardless of the reason.

How to request a refund on Scribd or SlideShare

  1. Start a conversation with our virtual assistant, available on any Help Center page.
  2. State that you're asking for a refund and why.
  3. Include as many details as possible to help us locate charges quickly:
    1. Email address or username (@handle) associated with your account.
    2. Charge amount you’re requesting a refund for or the order number from your confirmation email
    3. Payment method details: Credit or debit card, PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay, Apple Pay, etc.

If for some reason the virtual assistant can't resolve your refund request, our support team will take over.

How to request a refund on the App Store or Google Play

Apple handles App Store refunds. Request a refund directly through Apple Support.

Google handles Google Play refunds. Request a refund directly through Google Play Support. A refund through Google Play will end your subscription — if you want to keep your subscription, ask us about a credit instead.

Refunds for subscribers in the EU and UK

You can withdraw from a subscription within 14 days of buying it and get the full amount back. That right applies for whatever the reason.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I get a refund if I never used my subscription?

A: Yes, if the charge is from the last 30 days and there was no activity on the account in that period. If the subscription was used, even once, that billing period isn't refundable.

Q: Why am I still being charged after I canceled?

A: This may be a subscription from the App Store or Google Play, and canceling on our site will not stop their billing. You must cancel with Apple or Google directly to stop charges. If you canceled in the right place and were still charged, follow the refund steps above, and we'll make it right.

Q: What is the Scribd, Inc. charge on my bank statement?

A: That's us. Scribd, SlideShare, and Everand subscriptions all bill under "Scribd, Inc." If nothing on your account matches the charge, the subscription may be active under another email address. Here's how to track your subscription down.

Q: How long does a Scribd refund take?

A: Most banks show a refund within 5-7 business days.  We will only refund the account you paid with. For Venmo customers, the refund will land on the card or bank account connected to your Venmo, or in your Venmo balance. See Venmo support.

Reservation of rights

Scribd, Inc. reserves the right to refuse a refund request if it reasonably believes (i) that you are trying to unfairly exploit this refund policy; (ii) if you are in breach of our Terms of Use; or (iii) if Scribd, Inc. reasonably suspects that you are using our service fraudulently.

This refund guide does not affect your statutory rights.
