I'm having trouble with downloads or offline access

The Everand app lets you download audiobooks and ebooks for offline access. If downloads aren't working, here's what to check.

Downloads won't start or complete

  • Check your internet connection. Downloads require an active connection to start. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see if that helps.
  • Check your device storage. If your device is low on space, downloads may fail silently. Free up some space and try again.
  • Update the app. Outdated app versions can cause download issues.

I downloaded a book but can't open it offline

Make sure you're opening the book through the Everand app — offline content can only be accessed in the app, not through a web browser. If the download is completed but the book won't open, try deleting and re-downloading it.

My downloaded book seems to be streaming instead of playing from the download

If you notice data usage while playing a book you've already downloaded, the app may be streaming it instead of using the local file. This can happen after an app update or if the downloaded file needs refreshing. Try deleting and re-downloading the book. If the issue persists, update to the latest app version.

Downloads not working after a long period offline

Downloaded books use a DRM license that periodically needs to be refreshed. If you've been offline for an extended period, the app may need to reconnect briefly to renew the license before playback will work. Connect to WiFi, open the app, and let it sync — then try playing or re-downloading the book.

Finding your downloaded books

In the Everand app, go to your Saved list and turn on the "Downloaded" toggle. This shows only the books stored on your device.

Device limits

You can download content on up to 4 devices. You can open any given book on up to 6 devices, though specific books may have tighter limits based on publisher agreements. On the web, you can read on up to 3 different browsers within a 24-hour period.

If you're seeing a "too many devices" message, try signing out of a device you're no longer using.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need a subscription to access downloaded books?

A: Yes. Downloaded books are only accessible while your subscription is active. If your subscription lapses, downloaded content won't be available until you resubscribe.

Q: If I delete and reinstall the app, do I lose my downloads?

A: Yes. Reinstalling the app removes all downloaded content. Make sure those books are in your saved list so you can re-download them.

Q: Why is the app using data when I'm playing a downloaded book?

A: The app may be streaming instead of using the local file. This can happen after an update or if the download needs refreshing. Delete and re-download the book, and make sure you're on the latest app version.
