Your profile is your calling card on Slideshare. It’s how people get to know you, see what you’re about, and start connecting with your work. The more you share, the more you show up as a storyteller others can learn from and follow.
How much of my Slideshare profile is public?
Slideshare profiles are public and display all of the following:
- Your profile name and user icon
- Content you’ve uploaded
- Content on Slideshare you’ve liked
- Your followers
- Who you’re following
- Your "About" page (which can include your industry, website, and tags used in your uploads)
If you created your Slideshare account using an existing account elsewhere (e.g. LinkedIn), your publicly visible profile information on the existing account will be combined and shown on your Slideshare account. This is done to help you easily manage your identity across both platforms!
The information on your profile will also be associated with any public content you upload on Slideshare. However, uploads you make to Slideshare will not be automatically shared across platforms you’ve connected to your Slideshare account.
Viewing your Slideshare profile
To view how your Slideshare profile appears to others:
- Sign in to your account on the Slideshare website
- Click on your user icon in the upper right corner of the page
- Select your username located at the top of the drop-down menu that appears
- You’ll be redirected to view your profile page
Editing your Slideshare profile
Your Slideshare profile is yours to shape. Share a little or a lot—it’s up to you. You’ll find the info you can edit split into two tabs in your account settings. Before we dive into how to update it, here’s a quick look at what lives in each tab.
The “Personal details” tab
You can edit and include the following personal information on your profile using this tab:
- Profile Picture – The image viewers see associated with your profile or uploads
- Name – Your first and last name or the name of the account owner
- Industry – The category of business your profession relates to
- Website – A link to your personal website, company’s website, etc.
- About – A space for you to describe yourself or your account in your own words
The “Contact details” tab
You can edit and include the following contact information on your profile using this tab:
- My Twitter Handle
- My Facebook Profile
- My LinkedIn Profile
- City
- Region/Province
- Country
To edit your profile:
- Sign in to your account on the Slideshare website
- Click on your user icon in the upper right corner of the page
- Select “Account settings” from the drop-down menu that appears
- Choose the tab containing the information you’d like to edit (“Personal details” or “Contact details”)
- Make your edits
- Click on the “Save” button to preserve your changes
