You're free to browse Scribd and read as many documents as you like without creating a Scribd profile, but if you want to download an ebook or leave a comment, you'll need to be signed into Scribd. Automatic signup using Facebook Instant Personalization

If you're new to Scribd and arrive on our site while you're logged into Facebook, we use your public information from Facebook to create a new, personalized Scribd profile for you. For example, we use your profile picture and name to jump-start your Scribd profile, we show you customized recommendations of articles you may find interesting based on your likes and interests, and we connect you with any of your Facebook friends who are also on Scribd.

We only use your public information from Facebook to personalize your experience. You can control what information is public through your privacy settings on Facebook.

You can remove your profile or unlink it from your Facebook account by following the directions in our "Canceling your account" help topic.

Signing up using Facebook

To create your Facebook-connected Scribd account, click Signup in the top-right corner of the site. Then click the blue Login with Facebook button. You may be prompted to enter your Facebook login information if you're not already logged into Facebook. You may also be prompted to allow Scribd to access your Facebook information; you should click Allow if asked.

If you already linked your Facebook to a Scribd account, this will log you into that Scribd account instead of creating a new one.

Logging in using Facebook

To login to your Facebook-connected Scribd account, click Login in the top-right corner of the site. Then click the blue Login with Facebook button. You may be prompted to enter your Facebook login information if you're not already logged into Facebook. You may also be prompted to allow Scribd to access your Facebook information; you should click Allow if asked.

If you haven't ever linked your Facebook account to Scribd, this will create a new Scribd profile for you and then log you in.
